There are 900 of them in Montreal. Some have been giving their time for over 60 years. Together, they represent a quiet, essential force — one without which the SSVP could not carry out its mission for people in need.
Behind every meal served, every piece of clothing handed over, every home visit, there is a face. Often several. Our volunteers are the beating heart of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul of Montreal, and the numbers that describe them are staggering.
700,000 hours. That is how many hours SSVP Montreal volunteers give every year. A figure that is hard to grasp, but one that translates into something very real: presence, listening, material assistance, and support for thousands of vulnerable Montrealers.
900 individual volunteers regularly take part in our activities — collections, stores, kitchens, visits to isolated individuals. Alongside them, 2,000 corporate partners also contribute to this wave of solidarity, whether through donations of time, resources, or expertise.
Perhaps what stands out most is the depth of this commitment over time. Some volunteers have been with the SSVP for 60 years. Sixty years of dedication to the same cause, the same vision of society — one where no one is left behind.
